Picture if you will, a lovely
Arizona evening. A beautiful sunset, clouds moving in the background with the
chance of a possible monsoon moving in. Okay, so you see the picture right? This
is where are story begins. Tuesday night I was on my way to my sister's house
to check on her dogs while she was out of town. I decided it was such a
beautiful evening that I would do some laps in her pool to relax and cool off
from the Arizona sun. The dogs were out running around and while I was in the
middle of swimming I heard my sister texting me a couple times, I waited a
little while but decided I need to see what was going on. I got out of the pool
picked up my phone and read her texts and looked at the lovely pictures she was
sending me of the dinner she was eating. Yes, we share pictures of our food.
Anyhow as I proceeded to read the text messages I noticed something out
of the corner of my eye. I looked down and lo and behold there was a bee
attached to my bathing suit. It was dead (so I thought) and I thought this
ironic because my sister and I were talking about bees around the pool and
trying to keep them away. So I decided it would be funny to take
a picture and text it to her. I take the picture as you can see but as soon as
I was done it started to move.
IT WAS STILL ALIVE!!!
Panic ran through my body
as I have never been stung before and being by myself I was not going to take
any chances of going into anaphylactic shock. I immediately had to stay calm and focus on what I would do next. I
scanned the area around me to look for something that I could use to slowly
scrape the bee of my bathing suit. Nothing was around! I thought to
myself maybe if I get back in the water I can just shoo it off me. So I slowly
walked stepped into the pool and pulled my top away from my skin in case any
sudden movement would make it upset. The bee was moving a little more with each
minute that passed. Nothing was getting rid of the bee. Of course there was still nothing
around to move it off me. At this point I wanted to scream and just throw my
top off and run inside. Now since I am modest girl I decided that would not be
the best idea, I mean the dogs were around for Pete's sake...hahahaha just
kidding but still I kept my top on. Alas, I found my sister's water shoes but new I
needed to move faster. I used part of the shoe to move the bee off me and it
fell to the ground but it was getting upset. I didn't want myself or the dogs to get
stung so with all my force the bee met is fate with the bottom of the shoe! I immediately felt remorse as I realized I just helped the slow bee extinction
problem we are facing. Dramatic I know but I think it makes for a fun
story. So the lessons I learned from this little adventure of mine are as
follows.
1. Bees are sneaky
2. One can stay modest in the midst of panic
3. Bees make me think of Winnie the Pooh and now I want some honey ♥
